With funding support from the Digital Policy Office’s IT Innovation Lab in Secondary Schools Programme, Wa Ying College organised a S1 STEAM programme themed “Smart City and Smart Transportation” in the 2025–26 school year. The course comprised five modules—360 photography and editing, 3D modelling and 3D printing, drone control and programming with team challenges, AI autonomous driving with future transportation and V2X, and future toys featuring 3D scanning and hologram display—followed by an end-of-programme showcase.
An introductory block ran on 26-27 March 2026. Intensive sessions followed during the post-exam period from 15 to 18 June, and S1 students presented their work on the afternoon of 26 June. Across classrooms and the school hall, they practised indoor drone flying under safety guidelines, 3D modelling and printing, 3D scanning, and smart-car line following and obstacle avoidance, then shared designs and reflections with peers.
The programme deepened students’ interest in IT and computational thinking, strengthened creativity, problem-solving and cross-disciplinary skills, and reinforced responsible, safety-minded digital citizenship. We thank the STEAM team for their coordination that turned smart-city ideas into hands-on learning.
